FAQ

What is the difference between a brown spot and melasma?
Brown spots are most often solar lentigines, spots related to UV and skin aging. Appearing as more extensive areas, melasma results from hormonal factors combined with UV exposure.
What active ingredients are used in hyperpigmentation treatments?
Several active ingredients are used in dermo-cosmetics to treat skin with pigment spots, including hexylresorcinol, niacinamide, azelaic acid, kojic acid, vitamins C, PP and E, and certain exfoliating acids such as glycolic acid. Their effectiveness depends on the overall formulation and skin tolerance.
How long before I see improvement with a dark spot treatment?
An anti-spot treatment works gradually. While an improvement in skin tone uniformity can be observed within 4 to 8 weeks, it is recommended to use an anti-spot treatment for at least 3 months.
Can one use a dark spot corrector during pregnancy?
Some dermo-cosmetic formulas, particularly those containing azelaic acid, can be used during pregnancy. However, it is recommended to opt for well-tolerated skincare products and to consult a healthcare professional for advice.
